It is nevertheless possible to force him to stop completely, ie to cut electrically activating the "APM" option available in Windows XP.
To do this, go to the Start menu -> Control Panel -> Power Options. In the "APM" tab, simply check the "Enable support for the Advanced Power Management" box.
Now your computer will shut down completely.
