Web servers

Web servers allow the web to exist by providing access to many websites.

Although websites are usually hosted by known hosts as OVH and LWS, installing a local web server on your computer can be useful for creating dynamic sites (thanks to PHP for example).

On the Internet, there are several programs to install a complete web server in a few clicks with :

  • the most used web server : Apache
  • the PHP module to create dynamic websites and to connect to a database
  • the MySQL database server
  • the famous phpMyAdmin script used by all web hosts to manage your MySQL databases
