7-Zip is an open-source software to compress files in 7z, Zip, Rar, ... format.
It also allows you to open compressed files types : 7z, zip, rar, gzip, tar, bzip2, ...
It's possible to add some commands of 7-Zip to the context menu in Windows Explorer.
In the new versions of 7-zip, it's also possible to drag / drop files to add them to an existing archive.
