Operating systems (such as Windows, Linux and Mac OS X) allow you to use your computer.
Even if Windows 10, Windows 7, Debian (Linux distribution), ... is installed on your computer, sometimes you don't have the installation CD/DVD of it.
This is particularly the case with computers (generally : laptops) that are sold with Windows preinstalled (OEM licensed).
Under OEM license, the license is legally bound to your computer, but this doesn't prohibit you from downloading the installation CD to repair Windows or reinstalling it with the same serial number on the same computer.
