MediaMarkt is a very reliable site for purchasing electronic and computer equipment, offering a wide choice of products such as smartphones, cameras, consoles, video games, computers, laptops, hard drives and memory cards.
MediaMarkt also has many physical stores in several countries, including Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, ...
The advantage when you order online on MediaMarkt is that you can very easily recover part of the money spent at MediaMarkt thanks to the cashback site "Familycard" (reserved for Belgium).
Familycard is a cashback program that allows you to recover part of the money spent on more than 309 online stores, potentially including MediaMarkt if it is a partner, by offering up to 8% cashback on online purchases (including 2% cashback at MediaMarkt).
To be able to recover your cashback, it is essential that your web browser (in our case: Mozilla Firefox) allows tracking.
Which is not the case by default.
To do this, in Mozilla Firefox, go to the menu: Tools -> Settings.
In the "Mozilla Firefox" settings, go to the "Privacy and security" section, select the "Custom" option and uncheck all the boxes of this "Custom" option.
This will allow all cookies, as well as other tracking systems that could be used to then credit your cashback to your Familycard account.
Important : tracking is necessary so that the affiliate platforms used by cashback sites can detect and track your purchase on the partner site (in this case: MediaMarkt).
Thus, MediaMarkt will transfer part of the money earned to the affiliate platform and this affiliate platform will transfer this money to the source cashback site (in this case: Familycard).
In the end, Familycard will transfer part of this money to your Familycard account. Money that can be recovered later on your bank account from €25.
A little further down, locate the "Website Privacy Preferences" section (on the same page) and uncheck the 2 boxes:
Then, go to the menu: Tools -> Extensions and themes.
Warning : make sure you do not have an extension that blocks ads or protects your privacy.
Indeed, these extensions are designed to also block tracking. However, without tracking your order with the partner, your purchase will not be detected, the affiliate platform (which serves as an intermediary) will not earn anything and therefore Familycard and you either).
Finally, to avoid being refused a cashback, we strongly recommend that you completely delete your browsing history before making your purchases via Familycard.
The goal is to delete all cookies (which may have been created in the meantime and which could cause problems for the subsequent validation of your cashback at Familycard).
With Mozilla Firefox, go to the menu: History -> Delete recent history.
Select "Interval to clear: all", check all the boxes (History, Cookies ..., ...), then click "Clear".
Go to the "Familycard" website and click on the "Accept" button.
Note: as you can see, Familycard is only available for people residing in Belgium.
If you are in another country, you can try to use the cashback site "Igraal" (which is also known and reliable).
Warning : it is essential to accept all cookies on "Familycard" and on other sites where you would be redirected from it so that the tracking is complete and you can recover your money (your cashbacks).
Then, click on the button "Register and receive €5 free".
Then, click on the link "No account yet? Register here.".
Fill out the registration form and check the box "Yes, I have read and accepted the terms and conditions and privacy policies".
As Familycard tells you, you will need to click on the link you received by email to confirm your account.
On your email address, check your inbox and your junk mail (Spam).
You should see an email "You're almost there... Activate your account here." from "info@familycard.be".
Note: if necessary, wait a few minutes to receive it. It is possible that the email takes a few minutes to arrive in your inbox.
If the email has landed in your junk mail, click the "Legitimate Mail" button (in the case of Outlook/Hotmail).
The goal is that future emails will land in your inbox and not in junk mail.
Check the box "Never send future info@familycard.be messages to the Junk folder" and click OK.
Click on the "Activate Account" button in this email.
The message "Thank you, your Familycard account is now active" will appear.
Click on the "Get started" button.
As you can see, thanks to FamilyCard, you can also get back part of the money spent at:
Add the desired online shops to your favourites in your Familycard account if you wish or simply click on the cross at the top right.
By clicking on the bell (top right), you will see that you already have a notification telling you that your welcome bonus of 500 points (€5.00) has just been added to your Familycard account.
You can also see this welcome bonus by clicking on your number of points (top right), then on "My purchases".
In your purchases list, you will find your registration bonus (welcome bonus) of 500 points whose status is obviously already "Approved".
Just for your information, when you have saved enough money with Familycard, you just need to go to the "Redeem your points" menu.
As you can see, your 500 points are equivalent to €5.
On Familycard, you can get back the money saved from €25 via bank transfer.
