Download the Moonlight client from the official repository "Releases · moonlight-stream/moonlight-qt · GitHub" using the "Windows Installer (Universal)" link on this page.
Then, run the downloaded file and simply click: Install.
Once Moonlight is installed, launch this program and the PC where you installed Sunshine will automatically appear with a padlock.
Click on this PC.
Moonlight will ask you to enter a specific code on the host PC (where Sunshine is installed) and will tell you that if you are using Sunshine, you need to access the Sunshine web interface to enter this PIN code.
Plain Text
Please enter XXXX on your host PC. If your host PC uses Sunshine, go to the Sunshine web interface to enter the PIN.
On your gaming PC, you will see a notification appear at the bottom right of the screen.
Plain Text
Incoming Paring Request. Click here to complete the pairing process. Sunshine.
If you missed this notification, simply click on the Sunshine icon in the gaming PC taskbar and then click: Open Sunshine.
The page "https://localhost:479910/pin" will open with your default web browser and will ask you for the credentials to access the Sunshine web interface.
By default: the username "sunshine" and the password defined the first time you accessed the Sunshine web interface.
On the "PIN Pairing" page that appears, type in the 4-digit code that Moonlight displays, then click the "Send" button.
Note: if you used the taskbar icon instead of the notification that Sunshine displays, then go to the "Pin" section to see this "PIN Pairing" page.
Plain Text
Warning! Make sure you have access to the client you are pairing with. ...
If the code is correct and you entered it early enough (before it expires), you will see the message "Success! Please check Moonlight to continue."
Note that the Sunshine web interface is also accessible from any computer on your local network (by default).
Note: if you wish, you can restrict access to the Sunshine web interface by changing the value of the "Origin Web UI Allowed" parameter in the "Configuration -> Network" section to "Only localhost may access Web UI" instead of "Only those in LAN may access Web UI".
As expected, the "PIN Pairing" page is also accessible from other PCs on your local network if you know the credentials configured for this web interface.
Once the code displayed by Moonlight is typed into the Sunshine "PIN Pairing" page, the padlock will disappear from the icon of the PC detected by Moonlight.
Click on this PC again.
Now, click on the desired game (which you previously added to the list of available applications via Sunshine).
In our case: Shadow Of The Tomb Raider.
The "Starting Shadow Of The Tomb Raider" message appears.
Note: as indicated by Moonlight, you can pause the remote control (leaving this game open on the gaming PC) by using the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Q".
The remote PC appears and the desired game starts automatically on the remote PC.
You may also see a Sunshine notification appear at the bottom of the screen (depending on the game launched).
Plain Text
Stream Started. Streaming started for Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. Sunshine.
As you may have noticed, by default, the image on the remote PC is blurry.
To fix this, use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Q" to pause remote control via Moonlight and access Moonlight settings by clicking the icon in the top right.
As you can see, by default Moonlight uses 720p resolution at 60 FPS (60 frames per second) and the video bitrate is limited to 10 Mbps.
Change the resolution to 1080p and increase the video bitrate limit to improve image quality.
For example: 75 Mpbs.
Note: specifying too high a bitrate can cause slowdowns in the game you want to play.
So, it's up to you to adjust this bitrate according to your case by performing some tests if necessary.
Once the settings are adjusted, click the arrow at the top left to return to the list of applications/games available on the remote PC and click the "Play" icon of the game you previously paused.
The message "Resuming [game name]" appears.
The remote PC screen reappears with the game in the state it was in before the pause.
As you can see, if we access the options of this game, you can see that the graphics card used is an "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070".
We click on: Play.
The main menu of the game appears and as you can see, the image quality is there despite playing this game via the network.
Here is the loading screen of the game "Shadow Of The Tomb Raider" used in our case for this test. Here is the loading screen of the game "Shadow Of The Tomb Raider" used in our case for this test.
As expected, the image quality is as good as if we were in front of our gaming PC.
