7.2. WSCC

With the "WSCC" application, you will be able to access different Windows tools:

• About Windows: display the version of Windows.
  In other words, the program "winver.exe".
• Arp: displays the ARP table (which indicates the correspondence between the MAC addresses and the IP addresses currently associated on your network).
• Chkdsk: to repair the file system on a partition.
• Command Prompt: to launch a command prompt (cmd.exe).
• Computer Management: to manage devices, disks, shared folders, ...
• and more.

In the "File and Disk" section of WSCC, you will find Windows tools specific to files and disks.

In the "Network" section, you will find Windows network tools, the most common of which are:

• ipconfig : to see the network configuration (IP address, gateway, DNS servers, ...) of your network adapters.
• netstat : to see the TCP connections established and the ports currently used.
• ping : to test network and Internet connectivity.
• route : to display the network routes (in other words: to which gateway the network traffic will be sent for a given network).
• tracert : to know the path of a network packet.
• and more.

In the "System Information" section, you can find the options:

• About Windows: to see the version of Windows.
• Device Manager: to get detailed information about your devices.
• DirectX Diagnostic Tool: to see detailed information about DirectX.
  In other words: dxdiag.exe.
• System File Checker: corresponds to the SFC tool and allows you to repair Windows system files.
• System Information: open the Windows "System Information" application.

8. Programs : Components

In the "All Programs -> Components" section of the start menu, you will be able to access the "PowerShell Core" tool.

As you probably guessed, this is a "PowerShell Core" command prompt.

9. Programs : File Tasks

In the "All Programs -> File Tasks" section of the start menu, you will find several programs to manage your files:

• 7-Zip: 7-Zip is a file compression/decompression software that also allows you to explore your folders and automatically enter supported compressed files (7z, zip, rar, ...) without having to decompress them first.
• AgentRansack: Agent Ransack is a file search software that allows you to perform in-depth searches in the contents and names of files on Windows, offering speed and precision.
• Eraser: Eraser is a security software that allows you to permanently erase files by making them unrecoverable thanks to advanced overwriting methods.
• Everything: Everything is a search engine for Windows that indexes all files and folders on the system, allowing almost instant access to any file by name.
• Explorer: Explorer is the file management tool integrated into Windows, allowing users to navigate, organize and manage their files and folders on their computer.
• Q-Dir: Q-Dir is an alternative file manager for Windows that offers a multi-pane interface, making it easy to manage multiple folders at once.
• Rufus: Rufus is a utility that allows you to create bootable USB media from ISO images, making it easier to install operating systems on computers.
• Unlocker: Unlocker is a software that helps unlock files or folders that are currently in use by other processes, allowing them to be deleted or modified.

As you can see, the "7-zip" tool allows you to explore your computer, partitions, folders and compressed folders.

The Eraser program allows you to completely erase data from your hard drive by overwriting it.

With the Everything program, you can quickly search your entire computer.

With Q-Dir, you can explore your folders and easily perform data copies or moves, just like you would with WinSCP (for example).

10. Programs : HD Tasks

In the "All Programs -> HD Tasks" section of the start menu, you will find several programs to manage your disks:

• Bootice: Bootice is a powerful tool for Windows that allows you to manipulate the Master Boot Record (MBR) and Partition Boot Record (PBR), making it easier to manage disks and partitions.
• ChkDskGUI: ChkDskGUI is a graphical interface for Windows' Chkdsk disk checking tool, allowing users to easily check and repair errors on their hard drives.
• CrystalDiskInfo: CrystalDiskInfo is a hard drive monitoring software that provides detailed information about the health and performance of disks using S.M.A.R.T. technology.
• CrystalDiskMark: CrystalDiskMark is a benchmark tool that measures the read and write speed of hard drives and SSDs, providing easy-to-interpret results.
• Defraggler: Defraggler is a defragmentation utility that optimizes hard drive performance by reorganizing fragmented files for faster access.
• DiskWipe: DiskWipe is a software designed to completely and securely erase data from a hard drive or partition, making recovery impossible.
• EasyBCD: EasyBCD is a boot manager that allows users to easily configure and manage multi-system boot on Windows computers.

The "Microsoft Check Disk" tool (ChkDskGUI) is a graphical interface for performing checks and repairs on the file system of your partitions.

The "CrystalDiskInfo" software allows you to quickly know the temperature of your disks, but also their health thanks to their S.M.A.R.T. data.

With CrystalDiskMark, you can test and compare the performance of your disks.

Defraggler is a free defragmentation tool that allows you to defragment your files.
Which makes them faster to access later.

The "Disk Wipe" tool allows you to erase your disks so that any data recovery is impossible from them later.

EasyBCD allows you to manipulate the Windows Boot Manager (BCD).
Whether you boot in UEFI mode or not.

Macrium Reflect Home allows you to image your disks, as well as clone your disks.

MiniTool Partition Wizard Free is a free software that allows you to modify the partitions of your disks.
